Student Programs
Project Learn is the only free, community-based adult literacy program in Summit County. The agency offers English-speaking adults, 16 and over, programs to increase their reading, writing, math, computer and work skills.

One-on-one tutoring

• One-on-one tutoring is the heart of Project Learn. Volunteer tutors and students meet twice each week for a minimum of three hours.

JumpStart

• This 6-session course orients students and helps them set personal and educational goals.

Bridge Tutoring

• These small group classes teach beginning reading skills. Instructors give students personal attention to assure the new learners are retained in the program until they are matched with a volunteer tutor.

Small Group Classes

• Groups of no more than 10 students meet with an instructor at Project Learn’s main office to study a variety of topics. Topics include reading, life and work skills, math and writing.

Computer classes

• An instructor teaches an introductory computer class to students once a week. This class is open to all students and covers basic information about computer equipment and software. The class also teaches students how to operate programs such as Microsoft Word. The computer lab is open for student and tutor use at other times throughout the week.

Family Literacy Progamming

Project Learn offers a variety of family workshops and literacy education programs for the entire family. Each Friday throughout the year is Family Fun Friday. Families can stop by the office anytime from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for storytimes, arts & crafts and learning activities. The last Friday of each month, Project Learn offers a workshop called "Planting a Rainbow," which teaches parents and caregivers ways to make the home a primary learning environment and how to encourage literacy development in their children. During the school year, Project Learn offers the Homework Help Connection each Wednesday from 3-7p.m. for kids in grade K-8 who need help with class work. During the summer, Project Learn has a free summer learning camp that uses reading, writing, math and science skills to teach about a specific subject. Summer 2005 - Basketball and Teamwork! All programs are in the Cavaliers Reading & Learning Center.
