Volunteer Recognition
As a volunteer or tutor you will not only positively impact the life of an adult learner, you will also gain experience in education and have the chance to build valuable interpersonal relationships. Project Learn is thankful for the individuals who donate their time to help our students reach their educational goals.

To show our thanks, volunteers and tutors are applauded for their work at our Annual Recognition and Graduation Ceremony.

Below is a list of awards in which volunteers and tutors may be nominated:
  • Bob Kumpf President's Award – Awarded by the board of directors’ president to an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to Project Learn.
  • United Way Volunteer Center Recognition Award – Recognition given to volunteers in the community who goes above and beyond the volunteer requirements set by a specific program.
  • Barbara Norton Outstanding Community Partner Award – Awarded to an individual or organization that supports Project Learn’s efforts to increase adult literacy levels in Summit County through monetary and/or resource collaboration.
  • Outstanding Student Service Award – Awarded by the students of Project Learn to an individual or organization that supports adult literacy in Summit County.
  • Jean Sonnhalter Tutor of the Year Award – Awarded to an outstanding volunteer tutor who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Award criteria include: good attendance, creating student-centered lesson plans, submitting monthly attendance reports and participating in additional Project Learn activities.
  • Helen Stahler Volunteer of the Year Award – Awarded to an exceptional volunteer or group of volunteers. Award criteria include: volunteering a minimum of 100 hours within 12 months.
