Akron, OH
(September 22, 2010) — Project Learn of Summit County invites you to join us for an evening of splendor and pizzazz as we recreate the razzle-dazzle that was the Roaring 20s.
Whether you wear your sparkling flapper dress or snazzy pinstripe suit, try your luck on supporting adult literacy and education in Summit County.
The agency's annual Casino Night will be held at Greystone Hall on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 7 p.m..
You will enjoy the smooth atmosphere as you test your luck while grooving to the mellow sounds of the saxophone and other brass instruments.
After dining on delectable appetizers, attendees will begin to take part in the night's festivities. The casino will run for two hours with guests aiming to win as many chips as possible to bid on fabulous prizes.
This party with a purpose will be a night to remember and will help Project Learn improve adult literacy and education in Summit County. In 2009, more than 1,700 adults and their families benefited from our services. In 2010, our goal is to serve more than 1,800 adults. This increase cannot happen without your support.
From tutoring students in a church basement, to now serving thousands of students in need of literacy, GED, ESOL and post-secondary services, Project Learn has grown to become the largest adult basic education program in Northeast Ohio. It is the only GED and ESOL program funded by the Ohio Board of Regents in Summit County.
Our services are in high demand. Although the main library downtown Akron doesn't open until 9 a.m., that didn't stop 150 prospective students from lining up outside the library's doors to sign up for October orientation on September 15.
Having to turn away students who are excited to come to class and anxious to embark on the next chapter in their lives is depressing. To see their smiles quickly turn into frowns and sometimes angry scowls or tears, is not easy.
The money raised from this event will provide the financial assistance needed to continue and expand our adult education programs.
Tickets can be purchased at Project Learn's downtown site or by clicking the link below. Prices are $125 for VIP admission or $75 for general admission. To reserve tickets or obtain additional ticket information, call Marquita Mitchell at 330-434-9461.
